There are more than 700 head of game, 30 different species, also crocodile, hippo,
vultures, rhino, lion, buffalo, cheetah and wild dogs to be seen. Continue on to
the Sterkfontein Caves. Many archeologists consider Sterkfontein as one of the
world’s most important anthropological sites.
Also a World Heritage Site. It is here where Dr Robert Broom found the very first adult ape-man in 1936 and in 1947 a well-preserved skull of a female Plesianthropus was uncovered. She is known as “Mrs Ples” and is about 2.7 million years old. |
