Time Out In Africa African Tourism recognizes that all families have different requirements. There are certain requirements which we believe are crucial to the success of most family holidays.

There should be peace and quite for mum and dad whilst the children play and have fun at organized activities. Restaurants that welcome children and sleeping arrangements that mean you do not have to clamber over beds to reach the bathroom.

Day 1
On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport you will be met by a Time Out In Africa African Tourism Representative and assisted to the car rental counter to collect your vehicle. Travel to the Northern Suburbs of Sandton to your hotel. Accommodation is at the Wanderers Protea Hotel. Relax this afternoon or take the kids shopping or dinner at the Sandton Shopping Mall. Bed and Breakfast Protea Hotel Wanderers.

Day 2
Early breakfast and drive in an easterly direction from Johannesburg , past the coal producing towns of Witbank and Middelburg, via Belfast and Dullstroom to Lydenburg, Ohrigstad and the Blyde River Canyon . Accommodation is in a tow bedroom chalet. Approximate travel time 5-6 hours. Bed and breakfast Aventura Blydepoort.

Day 3
Use this resort as a base to explore the area including the famous Canyon Bourke' Luck Potholes, God's Window and the old mining town of Pilgrim 's Rest. Approximate travel time: variable. Bed and breakfast Aventura Blydepoort.

Day 4
Your journey continue via Graskop to Hazyview and onto the Paul Kruger Gate entrance to the Kruger National Park . During your stay here, your family has the choice to explore the Park either guided on an open safari vehicle (additional charge) or in your own vehicle at your own pace. Approximate travel time: 5 hours. Bungalow only – Skukuza Rest Camp / Kruger National Park

Day 5
Use the day to explore the Kruger National Park . Approximate travel time: variable. Bungalow only – Skukuza Rest Camp / Kruger National Park .

Day 6
Leave the Park and travel via Nelspruit, Badplaas and Pongola to Hluhluwe. You arrive in the afternoon at Hilltop Camp in Hluhluwe Game Reserve – the oldest Game Reserve in Southern Africa. Views are endless and game drives very rewarding

Day 7
This camp is ideally situated to explore your surrounds for the day. We recommend a morning safari in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, exploring the St Lucia Wetlands Reserve or sunbathing on the beaches of Sodwana Bay .

Day 8
It is time for the beach! Travel in a southerly direction to the coastal town of Umhlanga , situated right on the beaches of the Indian Ocean .

Day 9
Today holds many options for you. Enjoy sunbathing on the beach, visit South Africa 's largest harbour city Durban , go shopping at the Indian Plaza or visit the Aquarium…

Day 10
More beach time – build sand castles or go boogie boarding. Have you considered chartering a yacht for the day?

Day 11
Today is your last day in Umhlanga – spend more time on the beach or further explore this most interesting region. In the afternoon you will drive to Durban International Airport where you will drop off your hired car and proceed to check in for your flight from Durban to Port Elizabeth (flight not included). On arrival proceed to the rental counter to collect your vehicle. You will travel north-west towards Grahamstown, and Kenton-on-Sea to Kariega Game Reserve.

Day 12
Your day can be enjoyed at Kariega, or drive back to Port Elizabeth where you could visit the Dolphinarium, or stop off at Kenton-on-Sea, which is renowned for its golden beaches.

We suggest a visit to the local publicity office for suggestions on what to do today. You also have the options of visiting a traditional village or a local township.

The trip continues through the playground of the rich and famous, Plettenberg Bay , the Wilderness well known for its endless beaches.

Day 15
Today we recommend a visit to Oudtshoorn situated in the Karoo – South Africa 's semi-desert, to see the magnificent Cango Caves , visit an ostrich farm or explore the historical centre of town.

Day 16
Spend the day in Knysna, visit the harbour, do a sunset cruise, shop at the local crafts-market or go for a long walk in the surrounding forests – the choice is yours.

Leaving the Garden Route behind travel via Mossel Bay , Swellendam and the apple orchards of Grabouw to Cape Town .
